Barbecue dinner in Cove to benefit 7-year-old with rare cancer | Local News

Camp Caylor will host a benefit dinner at 146 County Road 4814 in Copperas Cove from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on May 16 for a 7-year-old Lampasas boy who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer – Ewing’s sarcoma.

About 200 children and young adults are diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma each year, according to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Band of Brothers BBQ barbecue plates retail for $ 10 each and include brisket or sausage, macaroni and cheese, beans, and the fixin.

There is also a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, children’s toy raffle and multiple kids activities.

The boy has undergone multiple chemotherapy treatments and will soon have one leg amputated, and his mother has taken multiple leave of absence from work to accompany him to appointments in Austin.
