MARQUETTE, Michigan (WLUC) — Children in Marquette served refreshing lemonade for a good cause. At the corner of East Ridge Street and Front Street, kids in the Kids Club were set up with their lemonade stand.
Proceeds from Thursday’s sale will go to the nonprofit Ainsley’s Halo, which provides scholarships for youth programs honoring Ainsley Kargela. Ainsley died of cancer in 2018 at the age of eight. The kids were so excited to run the lemonade stand on Thursday that they opened earlier than planned.
“Having the energy of the kids around you is very infectious. It was great to see their beautiful hearts not only wanting to give back to Ainsley’s Halo, but we’ve done a whole unity on the community,” said Whitney Schampers, Kids Club School Age Coordinator .
The booth was set up from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. They raised more than $1,400 on Thursday. The Michigan Children’s Hospital is one of the primary organizations helping Ainsley’s Halo with donations.
