The FDA has just approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents 12-15 years old. Research shows that the vaccine works just as well in this age group as it does in people 16 and older. Yet some parents still have questions and are unsure whether to vaccinate their children. Happy Valley pediatrician Ryan Hassan talks to his patients and their parents about immunizations, including the COVID-19 vaccine. He also gives presentations and answers many questions through Boost Oregon, a parent group focused on vaccine education. Hassan is a member of the group’s medical board and he joins us to share what he has heard from patients and the public – and what he thinks can be done to broaden vaccination coverage.
