Spring bouquet raises funds for Relay for Life

Several community members and more than two dozen salespeople gathered in Valencia on Saturday for a spring bouquet to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Santa Clarita Valley Relay for Life.

Sponsored by Team DVD Depot and Snow Orthodontics, the spring bouquet featured multiple vendors, food trucks, raffles, and children’s activities as a way to raise money for Relay for Life.

“We brought this together to raise money for the Relay for Life Cancer Society,” said Greg Bajakian, events coordinator. “I know what it was like to watch a family member deal with cancer, so I wanted to put together something that would help raise money for cancer patients.”

Bajakian said he wanted to give back to Relay for Life, adding that the organization helped him deal with the mental and emotional stress that came from his father’s cancer diagnosis.

“I lost my father seven years ago,” he said. “Relay for Life helped me when he was diagnosed and after he passed away. That organization acted as a friend to me at the time, so I want to give back every opportunity I get. ”

Vendors at the bouquet each donated items to raffle off to those in attendance, and all vendor entry fees were donated to Relay for Life.

An activity center was available for children attending the bouquet, with ball pits, photo booths, and even police cars for children to sit in.

Community members in attendance could enjoy local vendors selling baked goods, candles, home decorations, and cloth face masks.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to help a great organization,” said Bajakian. “There (was) something for everyone. Food, vendors, games for children, everything including the warm weather. “
